Explain social security for Grandma under this "new deal"

I have read so many things on the SS but I am not sure how this will work. Now are the 55+ going to be the same or is that going to change too? It looks like seniors got a royal screwing from what I see.

The latest I read is, at least temporarily, they won't mess with the main Social Security, but could cut back on Medicare.
