To coincide with the day of celebration of emancipation, Juneteenth, the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties is holding a hearing today, featuring the plaints of millionaire movie star Danny Glover and MacArthur “Genius” Award winner ($625,000) Ta-Nehisi Coates, “to examine . . . the legacy of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, its continuing impact on the community and the path to restorative justice.”
In other words, pay-outs to African Americans. It makes even less sense than it did thirty years ago when former Democratic Congressman John Conyers introduced the measure. Since then, historians have added to our knowledge about the complicated issue of slavery, including African Americans’ own participation in the practice.

It is frightening how ignorant today's college students are on the subject. Many believe that America started it. Slavery began with the onset of civilization and the arising conflicts. The defeated were either killed or enslaved.
As you pointed out, it continues today in Muslim Africa. The world reaction? Crickets.
The real history is always more enlightening than the altered political correct version. in Libya today the Muslims have a slave market where they capture the black Africans trying to migrate away from their harsh life in southern Africa.
Black Africans were selling black Africans to the ship owners mostly from NY and rich Jews. So who pays reparations the Muslims who were probably the most likely ones who captured the to be slaves the Jews who bought them and shipped them here or the American Slave owners both black and white. I am of Irish, English and German decent so what do I owe for this crime against humanity.
