It is something that I found on line hung li. I do know that in my own yard the humming birds are very territorial with my feeder and at times become quite bold and fly very close to me. I am guessing this person set out that red cup with sugar water for many days or weeks to make the birds accustomed to it. Then she likely started sitting nearby when they were coming to feed. Lastly she probably held the red cup in her hand and they came. I know that the color red attracts humming birds. Good luck
