Americans Gone Wild

http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/americans-gone-wild

"Years ago, losing a job was not that big of a deal.  Now a job loss is enough to cause some Americans to snap and go over the edge.  We are seeing restaurant brawls and open violence in the streets that would have been unthinkable 50 years ago.  All over the nation people are losing it and are literally going crazy.  The news stories and the videos posted below of "Americans gone wild" are very graphic and very shocking.  There is a reason for this.  These examples are meant to show you that the very fabric of our civilized society is falling apart.  It won't matter who ends up leading us politically if this is the kind of people we become."

It's not just the economy either.  The influences coming in with the brown dwarf affects mental health.

  • Joan, I have heard that Cayce said Floyd, VA was a safe place, but I have never seen it written.  Could you ask someone there for a reference?

In this part of the world, food is given away by some churches, as well as the Salvation Army, who does charge for non-food items in their stores.  The food is donated by several sources, such as Food Lion (a grocery chain akin to Ralph's on the west coast), the USDA, a food bank in Roanoke that serves many churches, etc.  People are screened and given food stamps if income eligible.  If over the income level for food stamps, but under a certain, higher level, they will get a box of food.  The churches do it once a month.  In an emergency, you can ask in between monthly distributions for help.  In Radford, Wal-Mart donates its leftover food and it is distributed every Monday (except holidays) through the Fire Department.

  • I will gather as much info as I can and will be happy to update.
  • BTW update us on the Edgar Cayce foundation visit!!

I went to VA beach back in the late 90's before I knew of edgar cayce.  Dang, I would have visited if I would have known about the man.

  • Our Lady of Mount Carmel (catholic church in Thurmont) has been advertising dates for people in need to come and get canned goods.  They set two dates so far, one on May 3rd and one on June 3rd.  The ad said they will be open until they run out.  These are donated goods.

  • Putting a list together of places for people to go as a handout is helpful.  We had homeless students at the university who needed assistance.

Here's an odd question - Do churches give the food away or do they require a fee of some sort?  I am asking because over the past months, I would go into a Salvation Army store to see what they are charging people to purchase clothes or whatever and have found it to be unreasonable.  We then were having yard sales as we have had our financial difficulties too and starting selling stuff and there were many people giving me their phone number and had specific sizes they were requesting as I listened to their stories of hardship.  We were selling stuff/clothes very cheap; $1 or $2 max.  We held another yard sale just last weekend and people from the fall yard sale were returning.

Violent crime everywhere is at a rise, in this county, every other week men are killing their significant others whether they are married or not; or men in retaliation are killing their children or their "girlfriends' children.  The young mother in New York drove her vehicle into the Hudson River with her young children in it and drowned all but one who escaped.

I'm curious as to why are some people affected in different ways - i.e., some are having uncomfortable physical symptoms and others are having mental health issues.

BTW, I'm here in Virginia Beach and will be visiting the Edgar Cayce Foundation.  Let me know if you're searching for something or maybe recommend something I should look for.  We came down because hubby is working in the area (company paid trip); forgot that the Foundation was here until we drove by it.  It's a beautiful beach!

  • Kim, this is why donating food to the local church and telling people to go there is safer than trying to hand out food from your house.  Then the word gets around where food is located.
  • Luckily we have had no weirdos come back our long cul-de-sac lane as of yet.  There are 3 other houses on this lane before you get to mine.  They must think twice about coming down the lane when they see the neighbor's dogs.
  • This last statement was meant with a question, as to why are these videos showing mostly black people when it's not exclusively the case with what we are all experiencing right now.

  • What viciousness in these videos!  These videos depict mostly black people.
  • I had a dude come to my front door and knock looking for directions to a hardware store.  My German Shepherd was in front of me so I couldn't open the door, he would've gone after this guy.  I asked him where he was from and he said from Newark DE (which has plenty of hardware stores).  I told him to get out of here.   He was scoping us out to see if he could break in.
