    Yes, this is a good area to keep watch on, Shaku.  A news article back in late '09 mentioned that the USAF said that they expected satellites to start failing in 2010.  They didn't say why, but I think we have an idea why.

    Solarham data is updating again, and the Bz is still flopping around, I bet when I wake up the storm will have begun. Shouldn't be too crazy, but its interesting how minor storms are wreaking so much havoc. I've read that every other solar cycle has a higher propensity for earth-aligned storms which have a matching polarity and can be more geoeffective. We shall see if our technology is vulnerable.

    Solarham.com has lost its solar wind readouts, Right when the Bz is flip flopping up and down... It very likely could be that e incoming 2 CME's have overpowered some of our birds up there. I dug into this when my directv got jittery earlier tonight, finally I put on a DVD it was so bad.

    Hard to say whether that was a satellite issue or a programming issue... But I've never seen NICT and solar wind speed data go down simultaneously. Tomorrow I'll be digging up the telemetry and trying to determine which satellites feed these data sets and where they were in the damage path so that next time I can use the service interruption as an early warning system. Give me a few hours to unplug anything that might explode. Glad I don't have any CRT's left in the house :)

    I too check it many times a day alone with space weather and USGS earthquakes. I will post links for others later on on this discussion. I don't take much notice of the dates but will do from now on.  it is either a satellite problem, data processing problem-- or denial of data . the latter would be worrying

    That's the same image I've been looking at all day, Its interesting they haven't posted some sort of notice. I check that site 3-4 times on a quiet day, I've never seen it freeze up like that before.
