No eggs in stores!!! ALERT!!!!!

  My husband went to the dollar store tonight to get some eggs.  They didn't have any and didn't know when they would.

  He then went across the street to small mom and pop store. They were out and didn't know when they would get any more. He told him the bigger store in Beebe was low on eggs and didn't know when they would get any more.  What is going on here???  Is anyone else seeing this happen in their area.

Yes, we got eggs again!!! local Knights store.  got eggs here at the dollar store and small store too.

I went to Kmart about five miles away today and no eggs there either. I am going to regular grocery store tomorrow afternoon, hope they have some.  I will ask why if they don't.

Sorry, I didn't make it to the store today to check on eggs. I cleaned my house all day. I am going tomorrow afternoon for sure. I will post what I find out.

The Amish, build concrete block chichen houses cause they believe they are warmer for them in the winter and cooler in summer.. I put a 250 watt light in my chicken house on really cold days... Always buy egg layer cummbles for them to eat cuz it's got plenty of calcium.. However, that's for now...

Hey Pat, I'm just mostly curious about what the answer will be when you ask the store owners about the egg shortage.

The eggs I gathered yesterday where thin-shelled.  This means I need to look closer at my chickens calcium supply (oyster shells) which I suspect is still good, or the below zero weather here has stressed them some and affected their calcium uptake, or shell production. Always a learning experience....

I have a work share in chicken flock and a large, organic fruit and vegetable garden and I highly recommend it.

This is a bit off topic, but Sizzle, I have been keenly interested in how the work share idea plays out in day to day life.  I would love to learn more about it. Will you consider writing a post on this in the Garden group?  Writing a post like this takes a up a lot of time, so if you choose not to, I will understand, but I think it would be a way cool post. :-)  Love to learn from your experience there.

If I am not mistake there was a major recall on eggs in October/November for the central US not sure if it would effect Arkansas but its plausible.  I know that the eggs were out of Ohio.  As for the mass bird die off ...... and there is was no methane detected in the air from an earth fart, according to preliminary studies, leaves us to wonder if it was due to the magnetic field which is starting to seem like a very likely source.

They had a run on eggs in Mongolia also. But just found out everyone was baking for the New Year Holiday. Everything back to normal in the egg department.

weird... I thought Arkansas was chicken country...

I don't eat eggs, or cook with them very often, so it's not something I'd be concerned about for myself... but, I have lots of family that consider eggs a staple --- it'd be really bad if they couldn't find them. Can't wait to hear what you find out. Seems Arkansas is being targeted.
