QUESTIONS FOR DOUG COPP

Mr. Copp closed his blog to comments.  We vet all information here as best as possible.  We can understand if his information has been attacked by unscrupulous interests, but this is not the site to say "here is the truth" and then close the discussion.

So, here is the forum to ask questions.  We hope we will get answers.

Thank you.

  • Yes, everyone here respects and abides by the Golden Rule, so should anyone give you grief, they will be dealt with.
  • Finally, I didn't close the blog to questions.I only wanted to monitor them to keep away profanity, hatemongers and other such behavior.
  • What do you think about the concept of trying to move from where you are to a place, such as beside a sofa, while the ground is shaking.  Would that be dangerous?

Currently by doing 'duck and cover 98% of people die when buildings collapse. The only people who survive doing duck and cover are the people who get thrown to the ground/floor as they panic and flee..somehow ending up in a survivable void//or triangle of life ..

I have personally survived 3 buildings collapsing on top of me.

All te major rescue teams, in the world, have been trained for 5-7 years..now..to seach for these survivable voids/triangles of life..because only dead bodies are found elsewhere.

  • s it true that US building codes are designed to keep a building from pancaking (generally speaking)?

No. The USA building code is for new buildings not existing buildings.

    A few related facts:

According to KQED public TV 1/2 hour special, last week, Over 3,900 publicly owned government buildings are considered unsafe by the State Agency responsible.

One of the California Nuclear Power Plants is built directly on top of the fault lines.

13 school buildings, in Northern California are built directly on top of fault lines..because the land was cheap and wasn't purchased by business or people..so the government built schools on it rather than 'waste' the property.

I have personally crawled inside of many collapsed buildings in California. You can see pictures and video , of this, at my website.

The buildings in Kobe ( 300 billion damage) are much stronger and more high tech than California buildings or  technology..and yet KOBE was wiped out.

California buildings are a mix..many are made of wood, stucco and brick..which make them no better than many 3rd world countries..because they are the same..Modern Buildings are generally much stronger than 3rd world countries; however, let me make this clear..as someone who has worked at more than 100 major disasters, inspected and witnessed more than 1 million collapsed buildings and has personally crawled inside of 896 collapsed buildings.

Nothing built by man can withstand the force of nature...It is only a matter of luck.
