I am not fond of eating meat either but food scarcity is creeping up on us.

They can keep the beef. Not much interested in eating meat any more.
Since it applies to separated beef (like ground beef), it was probably contaminated during processing.
The Thanksgiving E coli probably came from farming with bio sludge or human feces which is quite normal now. I am not sure why the beef is tainted.
