  • I hear from someone who used to live in the Canary islands that the volcano Mt Tiede on Tenerife is the one most likely to cause a tsunami.  But who knows.  I hear since one has started that the others may follow.  Time will tell.

  • The Cumbre Vieja is active but dormant, with the last eruption occurring in 1971 at the Teneguía vent which is located at the southern end of the Cumbre Vieja, the Punta de Fuencaliente ('Point of the Hot Fountain'). Beyond Punta de Fuencaliente, the Cumbre Vieja continues in a southerly direction as a submarine volcano.

  • Dutchsinse says if you're in an area that isn't high enough elevation to avoid a tsunami on the east coast, you must be on your toes at a moments notice.  You can't depend on the USGS or msm to get information out right away if the volcano collapses into the ocean.
