Around 120 killed in Afghanistan earthquake - officials
The death toll from a magnitude 6.3 earthquake in western Afghanistan has risen to "about 120", disaster relief authorities said, with more than 1,000 others being treated for injuries.
The United States Geological Survey said the epicentre was 40km northwest of the region's largest city Herat, and was followed by eight aftershocks with magnitudes between 4.3 and 6.3.

Afghanistan earthquake: Hundreds feared dead in 6.3 quake
Hundreds of people are feared dead after a powerful earthquake hit western Afghanistan, near the Iranian border.
Some estimates put the death toll much higher. The 6.3 magnitude quake devastated at least 12 villages near the city of Herat on Saturday.
There were powerful aftershocks. Survivors described their terror as buildings collapsed around them.
Rescue workers worked through the night trying to find survivors trapped beneath the rubble.
Thousands of people have been injured.
