Ian has strengthened into an extremely dangerous Category 4 hurricane, the US National Hurricane Center said today.
The hurricane is located about 125km west southwest of Naples, Florida with maximum sustained winds of 220km per hour, the NHC said
The coastal state is preparing for widespread flooding when Ian makes landfall later today between the cities of Fort Myers and Tampa.
The area has not experienced a hurricane for more than 100 years, and residents have been ordered to evacuate from coastal areas and other low-lying areas.

Waiting to hear if my Aunt and Uncle's home survived in Cape Coral. It survived hurricane Charley and the other hurricane in 2004 without a scratch while everyone else's homes in the development had some type of damage.
