A new eruption took place at Anak Krakatau volcano, Indonesia at 09:38 UTC (16:38 LT) on January 3, 2022.
The height of the eruption column was observed to be ± 100 m (328 feet) above the summit or about ± 257 m (843 feet) above sea level.
The ash column was observed to be gray to brown with a thick intensity to the northeast.
The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 47 mm and a duration of 22 seconds.
The Activity Level remains at III (standby).
