  • Could be arson.  I know a lot of places in certain areas in California, many fires are caused just from the heat of the earth (vents that allow heated gas to escape through the earth).  Some places in California, the ground is so hot the geologists have to watch where they walk or the soles on their shoes will melt.  Dutchsinse has done many videos recently on this.

  • With 10 fires it sounds like arson may be involved.

The fire's about 20 miles to the north of G.J., and mostly burning in a Southeasterly direction during the day, with frequent wind changes, which makes it extremely dangerous to fight, for men on the ground.  I remember a few years back, when all those fire fighters were burned alive, just 90 miles from here.  Grand Junction is the hub for the fire fighting bombers.  Since I'm right in the approach pattern forthe airport I'm constantly hearing the prop driven bombers going over, from daylight to dark.  They have the borate batching complex here at the field.  Also, we have one of the longest runways in the USA right here, so I'm sure they're overloading all the aircraft, for maximum effect on the fires.  The Pine Gulch Fire is the one near here, and the Grizzly Creek Fire is the one 90 miles away near Glennwood Springs.  That's where they lost all the Smoke Jumpers 10 or 12 years ago.....

  • That's a frightening thing Jim we went through one here and had to evacuate 4 years ago.

Looks like we're in for another week of Hellish weather.  Temps in triple didgets, humidity below 10%, heavy smoke in the air.....What's not to like about Western Colorado, right now? ......

  • Looks like Hell, with small ash falling, surreal smokey sky and very low humidity.  Eyes irritated, nose dried out, raspy dry throat......

You'd think I had the Virus, or something..... Smell of timber (wood smoke, Cedar Mostly) in the air everywhere....
