Outside the basilica at the Knock Shrine in the town, a large US flag flies alongside the Irish tricolour and papal flag.
"Everything is in place for the visit of President Biden today, we are delighted and ready to welcome him with open arms," said Fr Richard Gibbons, Knock parish priest and rector of Knock Shrine.
The shrine and neighbouring basilica will be empty when Mr Biden arrives as the site has been closed to the public since yesterday.
In August 1879, a number of local people said they witnessed an apparition of the Virgin Mary, St Joseph and St John the Evangelist at the gable wall of the parish church in Knock.
