an interesting little observation. I looked at the earthquake below south America, it was registered as 6.7 then half an hour later it was at 6.5
Now, looking at the RSOE website, thie rmap shiws two distcn earhquakes, next to each other. one is 6.5, the other to the right is at 6.7.
just a little observation, but why the discrepancy? is someone being selective with the data?

actually there were five earthquakes ranging between 6.2 and 6.7 and not all in the exact same place. see dutchsinse.com for a video rundown. this is the worst kind of censorship from usgs. also they are constantly posting 4.9 quakes, I have to believe they are 5s that they want to pretend are smaller. even using their data, though, the increase in the number of quakes 5 and over is striking, I think I counted 9 a few days ago, average for past years was 2-3 per day. cheers, liz
