Alert: WebDiscover is Malicious Software

I updated the youtubedownloader last night late and I missed that it was going to install some 3rd party app.  It is called WebDiscover and implants a toolbar across the top of the screen, hijacks your home pages, the usual indignities.  But, this one was worse.  My computer slowed down, pages didn't load, then things froze up.

I looked it up and found that WebDiscover can be malicious (can be? it was!).  I ran my AVG Tuneup and it got rid of the pests.  So, stay awake when you are downloading and unclick those boxes that give it permission to install crap you don't want on your computer.

Thanks, Bill.  It's getting hard to keep up with all the breaches.  I tried to sign up for the Equifax breach and it didn't seem to finish the process (as I never put in a password) and then told me I already signed up, but couldn't get in.  Nice.  How many more stresss are going to be dumped on us.

  • Yes, they check them for your "convenience."  What that really means is they pre-check them in the hopes you miss that they are slipping in something you probably don't want.

They actually hide ( semi transparent) the checked boxes that all ready has a check!
