i have noticed changes also, Bob...
i live near New Orleans across the lake...
i noticed that the sun sits higher in the sky and is further north than it was last year when it set...
it is not even summer solstice and already it is setting near my northern property line...this did not happen last year...at this time of the year last year in 2009 it was still south of my northern property line...
two years ago the sun made it to my northern property line on summer solstice before it began turning south again...last year it was at the northern property line two weeks before summer solstice...
this year, it seems we are a month ahead of ourselves down here in the delta south...
and yet the weather season is a month behind...my brother casually mentioned in a conversation about painting this house that he wanted to get everything done before the end of April because we were experiencing March winds in April which meant we would experience April showers in May...and he wanted the outside house painting done before those showers came...he managed to finish the house but not the roof...and he is right...we are having April showers in May...
i don't quite get the connection between the two...wouldn't the seasons also be ahead of themselves, not behind, if the sun is further north this year?...
i am confused...
i have been watching it for awhile wondering what the heck was going on...and getting a little cross-eyed trying to figure out the bouncing ball vs the seasons thingey...
and frankly, just giving up trying to understand and instead just monitoring it to see if i can see any kind of pattern...
but, you're right, something strange is going on...not only can i see it, but i can feel something is not quite right...

Well the sun is dropping over the hill now where it did on the summer
Solstice a year ago. The Solstice is supposed to be a month away. If the
sun keeps moving north, I'll not see it go down on the Solstice as trees and
buildings will block my view. On the other hand, surely this isn't the
Solstice right now??? The Earth has apparently taken a dip to the south.
The next month will prove most interesting.
City people never bother to see such phenomena. Surrounded by buildings is
not the same as having natural skylines, with natural earth structures with
which to measure your view.
Something strange is going on.
