The problem is small earthquakes and the rock base of the area.  City Administrator Kuss was quick to latch onto that explanation, "But not all scientists and geologists are completely convinced and were not so quick to take Kuss's side.

"To be honest, I'm skeptical that there'd be a sound report associated with such a small earthquake, but it's possible," said Geophysicist Paul Caruso, according to the AP.

This article doesn't report the opposing view and the headline makes it sound like the problem has been conclusively solved:

  • It might be shifting earth rather than earthquakes.  The articles talked about one or two quakes, but the noise has been on-going.

  • NO! Wisconsins last quake was around 1972.

  • Not an area known for quakes, is it?

  • There was a quake yesterday just 80 miles straight south of Clintenville in a small town called Montello, which is about 80 miles North of me.
