  • That's the most affordable way, especially if it is a small commuter car, cheaper to fix and good on gas.

I learned that loans are more available for new vehicles than used.  For those poor, it's easier to get into a new car than a used.  Loans have been extended out to 6 and 7 years to make the payments "affordable."  It's sad, but you can't get a ride to work without a car, especially outside of metropolitans.

You are 100% correct Byron.  The NON preppers are the ones that will be laying dead on your sidewalk, after DEMANDING that you turn YOUR food over to THEM...... It will be rough, having to deny people food that want it, but every pound of food you give away, is one day LESS that YOU and YOUR LOVED ONES will live.... It's best to get yourself MENTALLY prepared as well as Physically prepared, when getting ready for the hardships that WE KNOW are coming.  Most of the people that will come begging or demanding, will be driving newer vehicles than I drive.  Some of that "new car" money should have been spent on survival supplies, instead of driving a new car or truck.  They will find out the hard way that you can't eat those toys....

  • WM that is the best way to deal with  up to $1000 a month car and ins payments.

  • Just about everybody in this area has a chest freezer full! I will try to get a few to buy one 300watt panel a month plus a charge controller big enough four at lest 4 panels! Batts are expensive so 100.00 will buy a deep cycle at Wallie world.

A few years ago, we had to go to a shelter because of a blackout. The Red Cross had open schools to house people. Since only our area was affected, a majority of people left to go elsewhere, and the rest like of use went to the open schools.  We learned quickly that it was not the best decision for us. We handed up with drug addict, drug dealer, people steeling from others, people not taking care of their own children, people on welfare who cared only about themselves, seniors with dementia and teenagers. Thank to an elderly couple who offered us to shelter in their home, we left that nightmare.  If this ever happen again, we are going to stay put. I ended up being obsess with having enough stored food. Even after all these years, it is still with me.

  • That, sadly, is the reality of having to rely on the gov't and others.  Sounds like what we see at the church food banks.  Theft in this part of the world is over the top and escalating.

  • I think it is good for people to hear stories like this one that might get them prepping for their future. I only know of one person in my neighborhood who has any preps since my best friend died. I keep what I have quiet for obvious reasons. I have a generator that I will probably never use because it will draw attention quickly. When the shit hits the fan it will all go to hell very quickly along with sanity.
