  • Good information, Jim.  Thanks.  I remember reading that hiding your treasure in the bee hive is an effective hiding spot.

  • I learned nothing from the artical.  So here is the real scoop.  I was the president of a metal detecting club for several years and know a little about detectors.  And have read many books on concealed and burried cashe.  Never burry a cash with metal all around it cause today most all detecors can block out the iron and just pick up the metal you want, like gold, silver, copper, tin, etc.  they are called discraminators.   If you are going to burry something in the ground and realy want to hide it burry it DEEP!  Most common detectors only work to a dept of about 8-12 inches.   The deep seekers can go 8-12 feet.  The bigger the coil head the deeper it goes.  Most detectors are usd for finding coins at 2 to 5 inches deep.  Never burry next to a large tree, first treasure hunting site!  Treasure hunters often search very thoroughly.  There are books that give the best place to look, like in the chicken coop, in the bird house,  in the garden, under the window, etc.    And, yes the night time is the best time to get a cash, unless you are on your own property, or a vast land.
