I listened to some podcast last night... happened upon it by way of a ning member's link... Terral was on it, along with some guy named Frances. Terral said something that made sense, he said it is not Elenin, but E.L.E. I took that to mean he doesn't claim to know what it is exactly, but that it is simply something that will cause an "extension level event."

His grammar is so poor, it makes me wonder how he got hired by NASA (if he did):
