OBL was "buried at sea," too. I've read the Muslim practice is to dig a hole and dump the body in. And, for desert countries, the latter sounds more logical than the former.
The majority of the world Muslims live in desert countries and there was some blow back dumping Ben Laden who was already dead in the ocean.
