I've had problems posting using the link in the Latest Activity list. However, if I use the link at the bottom on the Discussions module or the Blogs module (Add Discussion or Add Blog), it posts just fine.
You can also add discussions or blogs from inside a discussion or blog, just above and to the right of the title, to the right of the Options button, click on the +Add button.
UPDATE 2/24: I've had problems getting comments to post. The problems seem to be with the Latest Activity module. I found that when I opened a blog or discussion from their respective modules, instead of the Latest Activity list, the comment would then post. So, use that way of posting if you have problems posting.
And, I posted the following (into this part, the main discussion), and it didn't post the first time, so I closed it out and reopened it and pasted it in and the second time, it did post:

About the issue with Avast, It seems to be a part of our system, however, for some reason, it has been detected as the thread [threat?] by Avast.
The tech team has been notified about this and they will check what could be the reason of it.
About the discussions, we have tested the network and it looks like the discussion has been posted from the first try, could you please confirm that you are not able to post the discussion from the first try?
Also, the issue with discussions could occur if the page hasn't been loaded completely, please make sure that the page has been loaded fully.
