You had better stock up There are a few grocery chains that are now starting to report having vegetable shortages that are affecting Libbeys, Del Monte, and Great Value. The two main stores reporting this are Wal Mart, and Krogers. IGA will be the litmus test. If IGA starts reporting shortages, it will be DOOM, they are not "just in time" like Krogers and Wal Mart. They have a huge supply chain and interact with thousands of independent stores. If IGA depletes out and starts reporting shortages, it is doom on.

That said, I am going to repeat myself AGAIN: The weather induced food shortages are going to increase prices DRAMATICALLY, STOCK UP on at least pasta and flour.

  • Yes I have to agree with you that corn, soy and wheat are not going to affect me except that the price of beef will get out of sight.

I realized that not eating the targeted produce isn't going to impact me.  I suppose if people can't get the typical stuff they'll start using the not-so-typical (such as coconut flour for wheat flour; or start using other vegetables (like cauliflower, broccoli, etc.) when they can't get the traditional veggies.

We started long ago with extras when the first signs of shortages started showing up. The vegetables will still be grown where they can be and shipped here at a price so high it will curb your appetite. Just remember they will probably be sprayed with very toxic pesticides.

I only use GF flour ( will stock up on it just in case).  I have organic heirloom wheat flour but hardly ever touch it unless making something for my family (who can have wheat flour...).  And pasta I use rice pasta, no flour pasta due to wheat allergy.  I will stock up on GF pasta just in case...
