I know of a catholic lady who was very fortunate to be able to buy a small farmette (about 5 acres) using her money and her father's so she doesn't have a mortgage payment (LUCKY!). Plus she has chickens and goats, and she's got rooms stocked with water and food. Also, she has about 6 bedrooms in her home, plus a loft above the garage and all places have wood stoves or fire places. And they have a hand pump on their well. She's about 2 miles from where I live. Only thing is I have to suggest to her that all the water she has stored in glass jugs should be moved to the floor as if there were a big enough earthquake they of course would fall off shelf and break.
