A hurried note, as it is 3:23 am as I start this post.
When a whole fire department was shut down when one firefighter tested positive, it opened my eyes to the same thing can happen to law enforcement. Doctors and nurses are getting infected with all their protective gear and cops keep taking people off the street and putting them in jail. (Do they test them?) Eventually, if cops aren't shut down, many will become sick. Further, they may start abandoning their posts.
What will we do if that happens? It will become the Wild West all over again.
After some discussions, the consensus is you should have at least one 12-gauge shotgun, in case a gang of desperate people try to storm your home looking for food, etc.
You should have several other guns, in case front door and back door are stormed simultaneously.
We have put doors up on our porch and screened it with poultry fencing to keep the cats from wandering, as the virus jumps species. We will be keeping those doors locked and putting extra security on the doors to the house.
Look at what you need to make your home more secure.

Because when tough times come and law and order break down, you have to defend yourself.

Why does almost every scenario come back to having a gun, damn I guess that is why I have a few myself.
