I would like comments on what was written by Daniel Neilson on EGO:
"What is EGO? And why do we need to be free from it?
Ego is your false self, with the emphasis placed on SELF. It is born out of fear and defensiveness. Your true self is who you really are, the eternal you that is connected to everything and is at one with God and divine love. Ego’s purpose is to shield you from seeing the true you and your spiritual identity, and thereby keep you in darkness. But as insidious as ego is, without it you can never know the real you. You have to pass through the false illusion to come to the true reality. So ego plays a critical role in discovering who you are.
When you came into this world your ego had not yet been shaped. You were in a state of innocence. The first person you became aware of was your mother. She may have hugged and kissed you, told you how beautiful you were – or conversely, pushed you away and rejected you. You would either have felt good about yourself – or experienced the pain and fear of being unwanted. Either way, at that point, an ego was born.
Then, shortly afterwards, other people joined in, either encouraging you and making you feel significant – or discouraging you to diminish your sense of self-worth. At that very early age your reaction was not what YOU really thought about yourself – instead, what OTHERS in your life thought about you. It was an indirect experience - but it became your OWN – which you continued to build upon, as you grew older.
This is ego … a reflection shaped by others instead of you … a by-product of living in this world with external influences … a wall that you allow to be constructed, imprisoning your true being. Ego is a deceiver, camouflaging its true motives. It will pretend to guide you down the path to happiness and love – but its ways are the source of all misery. Working in partnership with your mind and thoughts, ego will take your sincerest motives and send you false messages to promote your own sense of self-importance. It will attempt to convince you that you are better than others, and so encourage you to believe the illusion of separateness, driving you away from being connected to God and your own inner love – and opening the door to fear and all forms of lower living. Ego would have you look outside of yourself for the way home. But inner peace can only be found by going within.
So how do you detach from ego and walk in the light and love of the real you? We know that we use no more than 10% of our conscious mind. The other 90% is there, asleep in the unconscious realm of the soul, needing to be awakened. That’s where your true self is. But to walk that path requires courage and determination. In the beginning, it will be hard to separate from ego – because it has been attached to your identity and feelings for so long. You may feel confused and miserable, like you’ve just lost a lover, or a best friend. And in many ways, you will have. But by consciously walking out of the darkness you’ll discover the light. And that’s the key … you don’t make the transition to the real you by TRYING hard to let go of ego. It’s a simple act of surrender and recognizing ego’s ways as false that frees you from its power. Once the shackles have come off, it’s just a matter of choice to consciously live centered within your true self and remain connected to divine love and God within. "

Hmm... There is another way to see this.
Since I practice channelling/kriya yoga/spontaneous qigong, when I do channelling, I simply let it takes over and experience.
One can say it is to become an observer, which is true, because if you interrupt channelling it will not being able to do what it really wants. It turns out that human abuse the channelling to do what the human/channeller wants.
Another way to look at channelling is to understand what what channelling itself, or you can say your higher self, want to do.
Ego is first person perspective, channelling is second and third person perspectives.
The ego takes on many faces. Your ego is who you at any given time in your life. I was taught that I was not very important as a child and had to overcome that. If you are a CEO of a company you have ego that make you feel important. If you have a poor job and can't get ahead you have a low ego. The children in common core education are being taught to be compliant slaves if they resist they are being drugged and have no ego. I believe ego is a word and has many meanings one just as useless as the next. When you reach a spiritual level knowing replaces ego and confidence takes over.
Read Eckhart Tolle's The Power of Now and Finding Your Purpose. He discusses ego extensively in those books. My understanding is it is something we needed to survive in ages past but no longer do and it has grown out of control. It constantly defends itself and feeds itself at the expense of others. It is what makes earth a hell, for every person alive has one of the monsters living inside them. It is what you think is you, but if you do the simple experiment of clearing your mind for a minute and at the moment the first thought comes to you, observe who made the thought. Was it you? No, you're the observer. The ego is something that is not you. And until you do that, you don't know that something else is running it's on program, outside of your control.
When one is unable to follow what other wishes to do, when one always attempting another way instead of following what other wishes to do. Always wanting things to be done on his/her own way without realizing human can be flexible.
