  • I read an article about a woman who was about a block from Ground Zero.  She got into a tunnel or something that curved, so that she was not in direct line with the blast and she survived.  Another woman was wearing a white dress or kimono or something with black flowers on it.  The flowers were imprinted on her skin leading to the conclusion that white will reflect the radiation.  So, surviving is very possible.  Education is the key to know what to do and where to go to avoid exposure.

  • I have had nuclear warfare training in the army.  Survival depends on how far you are from the blast.  The most important thing is to keep the radioactive dust from the blast off of you.  If indoors(basement)seal off the windows to keep dust out.  Get as much metal as you can between you and the blast.  Sit behind an old freezer.  That will block some of the radiation from the blast.

My biggest concern now is 1- radiation from Japan and all the radioactive food.  2-The economy tanking.

  • 8 Jesuits survived the bomb at hiroshima, they were several blocks from detonation.  Everything around them was annihilated around them, except for their parish house which sustained some damage.  The jesuit priests said they remembered they were eating their breakfast, when they saw a flash of bright light, the windows blown in, and they got tossed across the room with only minor injuries.  They sustained no radiation sickness or burns as those who did survive died not too long afterwards from radiation.  These Jesuits prayed the Rosary daily and were devoted to Jesus and Our Lady (of fatima).

  • I am not naive enough to think there would be survivors, let alone a place to hide, in case of a nuclear attack. I would be in the happy hunting grounds.
