Why I Quit Stevia

http://empoweredsustenance.com/is-stevia-bad-for-you/

An earlier post indicated that stevia is an 80% effective birth control substance used by Paraguayan women.  Today, while researching oxalates (a substance that combines with calcium to make calcium kidney stones), one source indicated that stevia is high in oxalates.  I'm still researching that point, but I stumbled upon the above link which indicates that there are other problems with using stevia.

And, here's another link, confirming stevia is high in oxalates:  http://thedetoxdiva.com/the-dark-side-of-stevia/.

Then, there's this link that tries to debunk some of the things being said about stevia.  The one about the body expecting glycogen because it tastes a sweet taste and then being disappointed because stevia doesn't deliver it, whips the adrenals up to fill the gap needs to be researched.  It kinda doesn't make sense that the body would be working on taste rather than blood chemistry.

  • We need more chinese traditional medicine in the states....

  • Well consider that chinese traditional medicine has been quite often uses "poisonous" herbs such as the one that intentionally uses to cause dehydration and excreta, happens when patient really need that.

Think about this, when you have too much water inside your body and causes water poison, then you have to have this poisonous herbs to get rid the water from your body. Everything is yin and yang, that is why eastern minded people has more balanced. There is no such thing as perfect "positive" herb, even it is very good on overall in nutrient, over consumption will still turn into poison. Sorry to say western people are mostly hypocrisy, that is because there is a cultural difference, western tradition teaches to be good and get rid of bad, while eastern tradition understand how to use negativity to solve a problem that positivity can't.

  • I don't know either, but I've not had any problems with it -- no hypoglycemia, no bitter aftertaste, etc.  Later, I found an article written by Betty Martini that says it's safe:  http://www.kayted.com/health_eat.htm.

  • Gosh.  Who knows.  I don't use it that much....
