15 Insects You Won't Believe Are Edible

OMG, Kim!  Stinkbugs are edible!!!

And, folks, we don't have to lose the crunchiness of foods like potato chips, because some of these bugs are delightfully (gag!) crunchy!

I have read that many insects are akin to shellfish like lobster and crabs.  However, if you have an allergy to shellfish, please be sure to approach eating insects with caution and test them, after discussing with your doctor.

  • ROFL!!!!!!  NASTY

Tell that to my dad who accidently tasted one as it landed on his lip as he drank hot tea (and it let loose it's stink).  And to another lady who was eating chips.  One stink bug dropped into her chip bag, she picked up the chip with the bug on it and put it in her mouth while watching tv (she didn't look at the chip).  Well, she said the bug was crunchy (no she didn't swallow it).

  • Here is a site that provide the information. I never had to prepare them, only eat them. Here is the link:

  • No these are not slimy. Usually they are served has an appetizer. They are served into a special dish that has cells where the escargot are placed. Let me find out how they are prepared.
  • Snails are slimy, yuck.  How do you prepare them, Rosemary?
  • I would rather eat escargot. It is so good with lots of butter and garlic.
