  • the previous version 10.04, was by far the most successful, most stable . rock solid. i  have it on my computer in the back room, where I paint from it. I have installed  both versions on the computer in the art room, 10.04 and 11.04, , of ubuntu on a virtual machine, VMware, on top of the osx operating system. there i use osx and linux at the same time, as the linux runs inside a console. well worth doing if you have the memory.

this computer, i have a 1TB drive, partitioned in two, one half windows 7, which I have had problems with, but the second partition  I am using now has Ubuntu 11.04 installed . on both computers I have no problems with the desktop, not now, I was a bit skeptical at first, but 11.04 version seems to have taken all the bugs out of it.

  • Very cool.  I'm actually using Ubuntu as well.  Unfortunately the new Unity desktop has not worked well for me so I'm a little annoyed about that, but overall it's still a good OS.  I'm hoping they switch back to Gnome or something in the next release.

  • Ubuntu!!!!!!! of course!!!!!!  I have been with linux since the early days, going back at least twelve years, so have been through the stable almost, Freebsd, bsd, mandrake, suse. all very worthy. Linux is just a subset of Unix bear in mind. so, I am with ubuntu, so far nothing beats it. it takes a lot from debian, and is the most stable. Mandrake is very nice to look at but seldom works, SUSE linux has been total ruined. five years ago suse was the best , one of them

  • Hey Nicholas.. what flavor of linux do you use?  Just curious...

  • the flash player was crashing every five minutes in the old one, I wondered if someone was downloading code sabotaging it, call me paranoid  LOL . anyhow it all seems fine now, no crashes yet. great browser, I use it and opera though SeaMonkey on Linux is a fine browser. occasionally having three browsers open simultaneously is useful. . another good browser is Empathy by the way, as is the old Mozilla browser, very stable and great to use.. in fact I think I will install soon, for fun.

  • Thanks.  I have it too.  So far, smooth sailing.

  • just downloaded and installed the version for Linux, no problems seems as good as we usually expect, still one of the best browsers out there. any problems I will let you know.
