They are wrap up in newspaper and stored in plastic bins fro now. Since I am not yet in a safer location, This is the best I can do. I was thinking of shelving units that we see on ships. This would be a good way to prevent item from falling off. Yes you are thinking that the jars will break if they are not cushioned from one another. Good point. Do you suggest partition of some kind?
Rosemary, if earthquakes start up in earnest then how will you keep your jars from breaking?
This is really good advice MSRED. I saw an article on how to grow food in gutters. Yes the recipes for laundry detergent are so simple.
Thanks for reminding me Cheryl about the pesky rodents. All my foods are in Mason jars. The only thing in plastic bags are my spices.
One thing I have learned about rodents, they can chew through anything, so make sure that, if food isn't in metal cans, it is in very tough plastic or metal containers (think galvanized steel trash cans).
I'm not that organized, but I can get to whatever I need pretty easily and quickly.
Here's an article about making your own laundry soap from one of my favorite sites:

Wanted to point to this one, also... in the event you don't have bread in the coming days:

Had to go find this one from Activist Post, but it was thought provoking and pertaining to food:
25 Foods - 25 Days
Very sound advices My food supplies are in plastic bins. I did not think about making a list for each bin.
