The photo was taken at appox 15:45 on June 12, 2011 in the city of Couer d'Alene, Idaho using a 3 year old cell phone camera. My friend lives on the forth story of an apartment building. He just stuck out his arm outside the railing and took this picture. The schmutz in the center is the camera reacting from too much light.

It's above the ecliptic, since Idaho is in the northern hemisphere, so probably not a stray moon. UFO reflecting sunlight?
That raises a question. Could moons precede the main object and rise above the ecliptic in advance of the main object? I would think they wouldn't just stop, or do they rely of the gravitational pull of the main object to keep moving? Anyone know?
