NORTH AMERICAN PLATE SNAPPED UPWARDS

"The major earthquake that struck northeastern Japan on Friday had the hallmarks of an interplate quake, which occurs at the boundary between two tectonic plates."

"At the area near the epicenter, the North American plate, on which part of the Japanese archipelago lies, slips under the Pacific plate. The temblor was likely triggered when the North American plate snapped upward, releasing the accumulated strain.

"The earthquake occurred near the site of another tremor that shook Miyagi Prefecture on Wednesday, so the earlier quake may have been a foreshock, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

"There aren't many instances in which such a large earthquake occurs right after a magnitude 7-class quake," said an official at the agency. "This is a highly unusual case.

"The agency warns that aftershocks registering around magnitude 7 could take place over the next month.

...

"The plate may have shifted over a stretch of several hundred kilometers along the fault on Friday, according to the agency, with some experts putting the figure at upwards of 400-500km."

"The quake was caused when one giant tectonic plate was shoved under another, the type of movement that produces the biggest earthquakes. It's the same kind of quake that caused the devastating 2004 Indonesian tsunami.

...

"The quake happened at the intersection of the North American and Pacific plates in the northwestern chunk of the "Ring of Fire," in an area that "has been incredibly quiet," Applegate said."

  • You wander for people that drink pop. Like coke it is so good for other things. Like cleaning of car battery cables, or taking the ring off around your toilet. Or even rust rings which are in a bathtub. It is even good, when you have a clugged sink drain. So you wander what it does when you drink it. I guess for the person, which had kidney stone. A good remedy in the situation at hand. Have never had that happen to me, but I'm sure it was quite painfull. Hopefully you are better now. Take Care Cheryl...........
  • Who ever puts this on my web page, I do not appreciate it. Are you this person I do not think so. So get off
  • Note the last line.  No one was expecting this part to snap.
  • I would say that you dreamed of this event, but it was coded until the events unfolded so you could confirm it.  I had some recall of being there last night.

Blessings on your move.  Does that mean you won't be online any longer?

I had a kidney stone that was stuck.  I read of a home remedy that actually worked.  You drink a 2-liter of Coca-Cola over a two-hour span.  Save about 8 oz. for the end of the 2-hour period then chug it.  Puree 4 oz of asparagus, canned or fresh is okay, and chug it.  Within several minutes the stone passed.  The acid in Coke literally melts the stone.  The asparagus allegedly dissolves micro-stones.

  • Yes, another source said it moved the island of Honshu 8 feet.   "https://earthchanges.ning.com/profiles/blogs/japan-quake-moved-coast..."
  • Bingo.

It sped up the Earth's rotation by 1.6 microseconds, according to NASA.
  • Haven't heard yet.  The quake was six miles deep.  The coast was pushed 8 feet.  http://www.heraldtribune.com/article/20110311/WIRE/110319867/-1/fea...

It sped up the rotation:  http://www.startribune.com/science/117823073.html

  • It's my upstanding that the 8.9 quake pushed the island of Japan east by 8ft. Correct? And how much of an affect did this quake have on the earths rotation? Did it speed it up? Or did is slow?
