On 31st Jan 2012 though of little significance to the public a quake in Vanuatu of 5.1 at 172 km deep caught my attention. Nothing significant it seems if you don't follow the EQ registry almost daily that Vuatuatu IS one of the most quake infested little island, but it hardly make any news because almost if not all EQ there were 400 to over 600 km deep. But at 172 it was the shallowest I've ever seen! then.

 

The crack are rising to the surface! The shallowest so far in only 10KM deep !! far cry from 500km.
