| Iran begins naval drills in Strait of Hormuz | ||
Tehran's latest display of military power will bring it into close proximity of US warships in strategic oil route. Last Modified: 25 Dec 2011 07:30
Iran's navy has started a 10-day drill in international waters near the strategic oil route that passes through the Strait of Hormuz. The exercises, dubbed "Velayat 90", could bring Iranian ships into proximity with United States Navy vessels in the area. "Velayat" is a Persian word for "supremacy" and it is currently used as a title of deference for the Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The war games cover a 2,000km stretch of sea off the Strait of Hormuz, northern parts of the Indian Ocean and into the Gulf of Aden, near the entrance to the Red Sea, state television reported. The drill will be Iran's latest show of strength in the face of mounting international criticism over its controversial nuclear programme, which the West fears is aimed at developing atomic weapons. Tehran denies those charges, insisting the program is for peaceful purposes only. Adm Habibollah Sayyari, the navy chief, said Iran is holding the drill to show off its prowess and defense capabilities. "To show off its might, the navy needs to be present in international waters. It's necessary to demonstrate the navy's defense capabilities," state TV quoted Sayyari as saying. Sayyari said submarines, surface-to-sea missile systems, missile-launching vessels, torpedoes and drones will be employed in the maneuvers. Strategic waterway The Strait of Hormuz is of strategic significance as the passageway for about a third of the world's oil tanker traffic. Beyond it lie vast bodies of water, including the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Aden. The US Navy's Bahrain-based Fifth Fleet is also active in the area, as are warships of several other countries that patrol for pirates there. Iran regularly holds war games and has also been active in fighting piracy. Both the US and Israel have not ruled out a military option against Iran over its nuclear program. Iranian hard-liners have come out with occasional threats that Tehran would seal off the key waterway if the US or Israel moved against the country's nuclear facilities. Iranian authorities have given no indication the strait will be closed during the exercise, and it has not been shut during previous drills. The US, Britain and Canada announced new measures against Iran's energy and financial sectors last month and the European Union is considering a ban, already in place in the US, on imports of Iranian oil.

where ever you go in continental US you will have volcano dust. the cascadia range may blow, let alone the actual fault, yelowstone is causing a lot a lot of concern it seems. we are not being given the data.
the problme is how ot survive once you flee the cities. her is the crux. water uis not so muhyc a problme if you carry a big berkey with yoiu ta ll times and maybge spare elements. you coukd take to hunting but I dont eat red meat, only fish. unless circumstances radically change.
we have small so called mountains barely above three thousand feet, at least the rising sea is not a problem there. winds a major problem, again there is always some shelter. the hills call them are only thirty miles or so away , but we are hampered here by two bridges ti the mainland. timing is absolute crucial here. once they put checkpoints on the roads we are done for but then one can always take to the fields and climb the hills.

Good to see you have done your homework. I chose this place 1 1/2 years ago as my safe place. 2500 ft and away from travel zones. My down size is the forest and volcano dust.
the vast number of cities are on the coast or on a flood plain. when we had the terrible floods here was it in 2008, July, I remember it well. helicopters were taking people off roofs, major cities down south were almost under water, I have never ever in 57 years seen rain like that. it gives you an example of what the real earthchanges will bring. they say it will be fire this time but we must include wind and rain and surging oceans. looking back to the last really great passing 11500 year ago, about, everything you can imagine was thrown bat the earth. Alan and Delairs seminal s work, 'cataclysm' which should be a first reading for all those studying this subject after velikovsky, this tells you in terrifying detail what happened. there were about ten thousand breeding pairs left, just enough to kick start the human race. this is born out by DNA studies that trace our ancestry back to this time i believe to a point where there was a severe bottleneck in our numbers.
as far as height goes we can take it like this. it is balance of risks. the elite, go underground because they think on balance it s safer than a solar scorching. fine . but they risk the earth moving and crushing the underground structures they have built. fine. my choice is a mountain. now, the survival f the last great passing went into caves so, a careful choice if elevation and shelter seem a god idea to me. what it comes down to is know the terrain know it well study maps, know how to get there, the quickest route, and keep away from people who may react unpredictably. I am alone all alone and have few attachment so can do this a family may have other priorities.
lastly, so long as you know the direction of a wind, you can shelter on the opposite side of a hill. and a height above five hundred feet in a cave or crevice should be safe enough.
The prediction of 300 mph winds does not seem to make open spaces a real safe place to be. Laura Ingles the second you may be right, but I think it is coming. I do not believe in any Mayan garbage, because it keeps changing. There are too many cities being found under water all over. Archeology proves it has happened a few times and it is due to happen again. So thats where my belief comes from and not the channelings from space fairies.
I agree Tammy. I would love things to be as they are indefinitely, the good things that is. and the bad things to go away. sadly, I agree, March may be the time . I believe the end times are simply a termination of an age, and the start of a new one. it happened to Atlantis, and other epochs, Noah, Moses, always it was a time of severe earthchanges. there does seem to be a cyclic aspect to this, it is hard to avoid this conclusion. as I said to Byron too many things seem to be falling into place, far too many.
the safest place, Byron, is in the open. providing you are in the right place example. an open hillside with running water and shelter is infinitely better than a seemingly safe house in or near a town if these earthchanges are real.
for me stay in your own home until it is impossible to stay then take to the high ground even if it means roughing it for a while. these are always my thoughts. the more you secure a house the greater the danger of making it a prison. think about it. assuming we have a solar scorching say, is it better to be surrounded by hordes of screaming people, or be alone on some hillside with shelter. this is always my way of thinking.
Yes, Nick, I think March is when all will be at peak. Yes, it will start getting bad in January but by March it will be the peak or the beginning of an Armegeddon of sorts. No, I am not a psychic, but I just get a feeling about that time frame and with others saying it as well I think it will happen. No, I am not an end-of-times person either yet I wish daily for the old ways for its simplicity and truth.
Yes resettle you to a better controlled situation with the barbed wire faceing inward. There is too much evidence that is bad.
I still say the FEMA camps are more like re settlement camps, I am not absolutely convinced they are detention camps though the distinction may become very blurred in times of societal and geological chaos.
