Comment: For those who are old enough to remember the Hong Kong Flu, the only comment ever heard was "There is a nasty flu bug going around". Also, there were No Lockdowns: During The Terrifying Polio Pandemic of 1949-52.

There definitely was well deserved fear of this wretched disease. However, there was no mass panic and no iron-fisted restrictions. Some common sense measures were suggested and "social distancing" was voluntary. What a difference 60+ years makes.

In my lifetime, there was another deadly flu epidemic in the United States. The flu spread from Hong Kong to the United States, arriving December 1968 and peaking a year later. It ultimately killed 100,000 people in the U.S., mostly over the age of 65, and one million worldwide.

  • @ Kim:  Agreed! It makes one wonder if they are deliberately provoking civil unrest for whatever nefarious purpose they may have in mind.....

  • This will linger in the heavily populated areas.  Protests will turn to riots.  They are talking about locking down Los Angeles county for several more months.  Guess what will happen in Los Angeles.  

  • The longer this goes on, the worse it gets. I am among those who believe this was a planned attack on America, and the rest of the world is simply collateral damage.  The Chinese are brutal and ruthless. They will do whatever it takes to dominate the world.
