Mayor Claims Quartzsite, Arizona Under Martial Law After State Of Emergency Declared During Secret Meeting
July 11, 2011

Quartzsite, Arizona, the town now infamous for arresting a citizen for speaking during a public city council meeting, has apparently declared martial law.

This, according to Quartzsite Mayor Ed Foster, happened after a secret meeting was held during which the city council voted in favor of declaring a state of emergency.

Jennifer Jones, the woman who has gone on a full scale crusade against corruption in the small town of 3,600, posted an urgent update on here blog The Desert Freedom Press.

“At about noon today, the town council, at the request of the police chief, declared an official state of emergency. Sgt Xavier Frausto was dressed in tactical gear when he and the police chief demanded the mayor get in their car,” wrote Jones.

That’s right, according to this report, police in tactical gear ordered a sitting mayor to a potentially illegal secret meeting.

The Mayor instead drove himself to the meeting which he himself later called illegal.

  • Keith my thoughts also and the thousands of motor homes when the snowbirds arrive in the winter could create a few unwarrented  tickets. The county sheriff not responding tells he is involved also.
  • DR why does a remote area of the desert have 14 cops for 3600 people mostly retired. Who are the chechs being written too, this may be coming out soon.
  • I am sure  you  are  right  Byron.  If it  did not   someone  would have  stepped in  by  now to   back  this Mayor  up and   put  the  Police  Chief  and these   Administrators   in their  place.  The   fact  that  they are  sitting  back and  waiting  for   pending investigation tells  the  simple  truth   that  no one  wants to  go  in there and upset  the applecart  for  fear of  stepping  on  toes.  Toes  mind  you  that probably  have information on all involved.

If no one tries  to  hold  them accountable  this  will be  swept  under the  carpet.  A  sad  microcosm of the pervasive fungus  that  has  invaded governmental  bodies throughout  the   world it  seems.  It  will eat  away   at everything  until there is  nothing  left except  for those  who have  strategically been placed in positions of  power.

  • DR  there is no doubt in my mind this corruption goes deeper that Quartizite. I was a Arizona resident for 7 years and visited this area many times. When it looks like a skunk and smells like a skunk it goes farther than Quartzite. I remember the state police to be very corrupt and abusive.

..............................................Foster said the council declared the emergency because they claim they've received threats from members of the public who saw a video posted on YouTube.

The video shows a woman identified as Jennifer Jones being arrested and hauled away from a council meeting after she said the council was violating open-meetings laws. Jones was speaking during a public comment period, and Foster is heard on the video telling other council members who ordered her removed that "the lady has the floor."

"She's exercising her First Amendment rights," Foster says in the video before telling officers: "You are in violation of my rules of order."

The officers remove her, anyway, and in the process injure her elbow, which is now in a sling, Foster said.

The video has gotten nearly 30,000 views and has people from across the U.S. and world sending messages of support to Foster and messages of outrage to the council. Foster has a Facebook page of supporters and on it, people have posted messages that include, "Kudos from Mississippi. Keep the rats scurrying" and "You have Colorado's support!"

Foster said a woman from England sent him a note with just one line: "How could America be considered a beacon of democracy in the world when freedom of speech does not exist in Quartzsite, Ariz.?"

Foster was elected in May 2010 on a campaign promise to investigate corruption allegations in the town.

He said since being in office, he has discovered that every pay period, eight to 10 paychecks go to unnamed people and that he has been denied access to financial records to find out where the money goes at every turn.

He said that's been happening since 1991 and amounts to $250,000 every year. "That's literally millions of dollars," he said...................................
