Big fish die-off along lakefront

The Sun-Times reports: A bizarre scene is evolving on the Chicago lakefront, with Canada geese and mallard ducks gulping down dead or dying gizzard shad.

A major die-off appears to be happening in Chicago harbors. Thousands, perhaps far more than that, of dead gizzard shad in the 3- to 5-inch range are frozen in the ice of Chicago harbors or floating around in open patches of water.

Record breaking winters have been around for as long as I can remember...... and my memory goes as far back 1978's massive snowstorm....and no there were no fish die offs.  That is a phenomenon associated with the post 2000 decade.

And again they are blaming it on the cold.  Ok, so how many winters have we had in the past 20 years that certain parts of the U.S. have had EXTREME cold, and there was NO fish die offs???  Lots.

I felt left out of the mix last week......not really sure how I feel being included....... and yes mass die offs are happening around the world, on a scale that is simply shocking.....
