Dear Friend of Liberty,
The National Internet Tax Mandate is closer than ever to becoming a reality.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has made a closed-door deal to hold a vote on Internet sales tax legislation before the end of the year.
And House Speaker Paul Ryan has recently endorsed a "modified" version of the National Internet Tax Mandate proposed by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte.
Like every other Internet sales tax scheme, this so-called "compromise" would raise prices on your Internet purchases, force you to comply with other states' tax laws, and entangle online commerce in costly regulations.
Ryan's record of cutting behind-closed-doors deals to expand government leads credence to reports that Goodlatte, with Ryan's blessing, is working with supporters of the Senate's National Internet Sales Tax bill to fashion a "compromise" bill that can pass the House and Senate in the post-election lame-duck session of Congress.
That is why it is crucial that we get as many Representatives and Senators as possible to go on record opposing any Internet sales tax.
And now is the best time to do it since politicians are especially sensitive to the people's concerns.
So please sign your "No Lame-Duck Internet Sales Tax Mandate" petition to your Representative and Senators.
And after you sign your petition, I hope you'll make your most generous contribution of $50, $25, or $10 to help Campaign for Liberty turn up the heat on Congress to DEFEAT the National Internet Sales Tax Mandate.
For Liberty,
Ron Paul
Chairman
