  • I hope not too Rosemary.

Many are also fighting a mining development in the Kimberley region in Western Australia. This is a pristine wilderness area with fossilized dinosaur footprints, ancient aboriginal paintings and sacred grounds, plus the coastline includes whale birthing bays and a rich environment for many other marine animals.

The government is pushing for the development to go ahead but many are fighting this so called progress as it will destroy or highly impact much of what I have described above. The local aborigines have been divided on the issue by the promise of large cash windfalls by the mining company, but many are holding out for a different future based on eco-tourism. I hope the later group succeed.

  • That is a gem Peter. This is a funny twist on a tragic stupid leader the one and only Harper. Now, although Alberta is rich in Tar Sand, they are facing opposition from the States and environmentalist in Canada., Alberta wants to build a pipeline from the tar sand to the southern States and from Alberta to the Maritime Provinces. I sincerely hope this will not happen.
