Japanese artist Isao Hashimoto has created a beautiful, undeniably scary time-lapse map of the 2053 nuclear explosions which have taken place between 1945 and 1998, beginning with the Manhattan Project's "Trinity" test near Los Alamos and concluding with Pakistan's nuclear tests in May of 1998. This leaves out North Korea's two alleged nuclear tests in this past decade (the legitimacy of both of which is not 100% clear).

Each nation gets a blip and a flashing dot on the map whenever they detonate a nuclear weapon, with a running tally kept on the top and bottom bars of the screen. Hashimoto, who began the project in 2003, says that he created it with the goal of showing"the fear and folly of nuclear weapons." It starts really slow — if you want to see real action, skip ahead to 1962 or so — but the buildup becomes overwhelming.

  • I think the wake up call has to come to get people's attention, to snap them out of the daily daze.

  • The "less-than-benevolent ET" situation I can understand - as like attracts like - so it is no wonder we are getting unwanted interference. However, I still think (hope) the "good" ETs are turning the tables slightly - but again, they will only do it if they get the right signals from us - on mass we still have so far to go to get to this point - which is why I keep bringing up the possible "slap in the face" significant (or even catastrophic) event scenario that I believe is needed to wake more people up. Unfortunately, I am beginning to believe this coming!

  • Yes, the picture of what we have done to Mother Earth is clear and compelling.  The caretakers need to begin taking care that she is not damaged any further.

From what I read in The Allies book I posted yesterday, the use of nuclear weapons has attracted the less-than-benevolent ETs and are causing them to move in before we destroy this very, very valuable piece of real estate known as Earth.

  • What kind of signal does it send to our terrestrial neighbors?

And no wonder Mother Earth is fighting back - enough is enough!

  • Yes, but it made its point, loud and clear.

It raises the question, is this how we created the ozone hole?  What other horrible things will come of it?

  • The "art of destruction"
