Elenin ... broken up??

Can anyone confirm this story...

 

"On images from Sept. 1st in the comet’s coma there was no condensation visible, and that meant the comet had already broken up into fairly small pieces, with a maximum size of not more than a hundred meters."

Eric, keep your eye on the Elenindwarf-star-jpl-event blog.  Amy's latest post from the StarViewer Team says it has not disintegrated.  I think it did break in two, which I think is different than disintegration.  It appears to have changed trajectory.

From what I understand, it was no 'authoritative voice' that made the first claim of Elenin breaking up. Instead, it was an amateur astronomer making the claim, every other source regurgitating (sometimes with embellishments) what he claimed had happened, or was happening to, Elenin. That is the last I read. Who, or what 'authoritative voice,' could be out there to confirm the information is unknown by me.

Yes, that is quite true, even Leonid Elenin himself say the same thing along with host of other astronomy club sites. However, the comet is still there! On course, although very faint now.
