  • Hung, did you think that we were misunderstanding the Vietnamese children here? If so, I apologise. I was understanding them from the perspective of what I know of children in general. Kids are amazingly resilient. We will learn much from them in the future. I believe that while many adults will be paralysed and in shock, children will live life fully, and help us heal from our losses. I hope you understand that I meant no disrespect. :-)
I must say the insight to the Vietnamese culture is helpful. When I was in the AF I knew many Vietnamese women. I discovered that their language has 10 tones compared to the English language, which has 5 tones. The level of nuance in the Vietnamese language is literally beyond our capacity to hear. Lots of people misunderstood these women because they could not hear the other five tones of the language. There are so many things that many of us do not understand about each other. And I try to remember it is wise not to assume to much in each other, but to remain open to hearing and knowing each other from our hearts, and souls. Thank you for sharing your insights!!!!!
  • the Vietnamese people smile in most situations: when they were scorned by teachers, by relatives..they smile ( don't mistake with dis-respect...)...
  • Yes those kids are having fun with their raft. :)
  • These kids look like they are having fun, amazing! ...kid's are great, they are so resilient!!!
Prayers for the people here, and the loved ones lost....
