Amazing! Some young ones have true community spirit. I have seen it here in England too. Renting delapidated alotments, putting them all together so they have quite a plot, growing organic food that they supply to who wants it. My stepdaughter is very conscious of the less fortunate too but she hasn't done anything like this.

If I get a surplus of tomatoes this year, I will be taking them to the soup kitchen (at a protestant church) at a town near me. They always advertise asking for any surplus veggies that people grow.
