Considering the depth of that tectonic plate its more likely it will become an inland lake/sea as opposed to a tear that will part the land.....Keep in mind that Africa sits on possibly the oldest land mass that we know of....Antarctica not included because of all the ice :)

It currently runs about 35 miles and growing.....one of many fissures of late.
