I took a smallish boat trip to Catalina Island from Los Angeles. I was sea sick the entire trip. I did learn though that the closer you are to the water the less you feel the motion sickness. So stay off the upper decks!

I went on a glass bottom two story cruise boat maybe a 16th the size of a cruise ship to a reef in the atlantic outside of Key West Fl. The waves that day were cresting 9 to 10 feet (I can imagine what 30 foot waves would be like OMG). OMG people were upstairs over the edges hurling, and I was down inside just praying that the voyage would end cause I felt very dizzy and HORRIBLE. No way would I want to go on any type of cruise after that experience!

It makes that cruise look like a little toy. Those waves are massive. I've been on cruise half that size on windy day and the cruise didn't even bouce around that much.
