Ever wondered why Earth is the negative on your car battery?
It is due to the movement of our planet through space. Our planet is moving through space at about 67000 mph. Space is made up of positive molecular ions and proton energy streams from stars. The stream of electrons from our magnetic iron core that surround us are being converted into hydrogen via proton stream contact in the upper atmosphere.
We enjoy a stable atmosphere and don't get any electric activity until enough hydrogen and oxygen combine and start moving around. We get a visual of atoms sharing electrons.
The core is pulling electrons toward it making the surface negative, like opposite ends of a magnet.
This means we are also attracting the positive molecular ions in space, adding to Earth's mass constantly.
A comet's tail is a stream of electrons being sucked off it by the positive ions it encounters on it's journey. The closer the Sun, the more dense the protons are, the higher the rate of loss of electrons. This is where it gets interesting so come a little closer and put your thinking cap on.
Comet Elenin is a big chunk of rock with no atmosphere. No Iron core and therefore no magnetic field. It isn't absorbing protons. It is the first long orbit comet to come in between us and the Sun in a very long time. It is an intensely positively charged ion about 12km in size. It is an electron vacuum cleaner. We as a planet have an abundance of electrons. We as a planet are about to be closest of all other objects to this comet.
Earth is about to run parallel to Elenin before it over takes us and crosses our path. All the while attracting each other, especially the crust or negative aspect of Earth.
But wait.....
This stream of electrons from Earth to Elenin also means that less electrons are returning to our core. The core is slowing as the friction of electrons reduces. More protons begin to enter the Earth and begin heating the surface,crust and mantle. The Earth has two forces now increasing, a push from the momentum of protons and a pull from the release of electrons. Northern fall has the potential to become Northern Spring over two to three weeks, losing 6 months (or gaining if you are an optimist.)
As the comet leaves us it positions us based on the level of our magnetic fields interaction with it. The proton stream from the sun changes our rotation to match a closer to perpendicular spin.
I want to hear a theory on this from anyone interested. Maybe someone knows of another source of electrons for this comet.
Remember 3 - 12 thousand years is a long time to be losing electrons so the positive charge of this thing is absolutely huge.

Can't remember if I read it on this ning, or somewhere else, or heard it, but wherever it came from, the point was made that if you use your cellphone in concrete structures and you regularly loose your signal in a particular spot, it will be a good place to be for CMEs.
Keith, I would worry about being on the 6th floor anywhere.
I noticed on the Andromedan Chronicles that he doesn't mention wind and water. Do you think those won't be the problem? He mentioned CME's but only in the context of taking the electrical grid down. And satellites will be displaced too, so no more sats. He also mentioned the soil being cauterized, meaning burned, so that sounds like a real situation to have to plan for, if it's even possible.
This makes sense to me.....is this the real concern about this long orbit comet? Who is this guy anyway???? Now the question is, is this theory real? If it is no one is safe anywhere,
Personally..I like this theory. It explains a lot and takes out the hocus-pocus of the impossiblity of a BD passing the earth and such...along with all the diagrams and pictures of all types of in-imaganible theories .to a simple understandabe explaination.
