Magnetic North Pole drift

Here is the data that I have been looking for, for years!  It shows exactly where the north pole is now and plots the movement.  This should show us in what direction the Earth will tilt in when the event happends.  I would think that if the north magnetic pole moved a quarter of the way around the planet we would then flip.  I have not read the entire site yet but it does look good!  Here is the link.

  • Tamy very interesting !  Someone should do a study on that.
  • I like the comment:

Could crustal movements, earthquakes and volcanoes be affected differently on this side of the planet than the other? The location is certainly right on top of the pacific ring of fire, and very near the general vicinity of Indonesia (most active volcanoes in the world), and located in the part of the world that gets the majority of earthquakes. It could purely coincidental, but who’s to say…

That says it all to me.

This is July 15 from the Antarctic.  I do not know how to explain the movement from the previous posted photo but there is a difference.

  • This would be worth watching.  This could over time give a picture understanding of the shift that is occurring with the earth. If a rapid shift is occurring this might traceable by the location of the auroral oval.

  • Kim, forgot to say that the poles are going towards Russia.
  • Alex, I have been on that site before and what they say is all true.  However it is what they left out that is interesting.  That is, several years ago the core tilted, so the curve of the magnet pole now seems to be a B-line that is heading straight for Russia.  I estamate that if the pole travels somewhere between 92* and 96* which is a quarter of the way around the planet, that the earth will finaly tip on it,s side.  Because the crust will follow the magnetic pole.  So far now it has moved 40 miles a year. Perhaps next year it will move 80-100 miles.  then 100-200 miles per year.  I think that every 69 miles =one degree.  So as you can see we have quite a ways to go yet.  So far in degrees the magnet pole shift has not even moved 1 entire degree.  If I am right on my math.  We have a long way to go before the shift.  However, there are other factors.  The sun, PX, etc.
  • Magnetic North is ever changing maybe this will help understand it.

  • I don't have time to take a look, but where is it showing the poles might go to?
  • That is interesting. The south pole is moving more slowly. It is funny, but my magnet do not seem to change position at all.
