I have been unable to find my original post pertaining to my pocket kit so here is a eyeball breakdown of what I consider the basics everyone should carry at all times.....

Jacks sorry..... other substitutions include match heads removed from the rest of the match after being placed in a little wax to conserve space, and there are much better strikers that can be found. Band aids and iodine were removed because they won't cut the mustard in a major situation so they were replaced by water purifying tablets that don't require a container because in a waterproof case. Everything I illustrated can fit in one of those aluminum(not sure on material but very sturdy) cases/wallets that are waterproof that are advertised on tv all the time for like 10 dollars and if that is just a ridiculous expense in your eyes then shoot for an Altoids tin or tobacco tin that can be dipped in wax to seal off the edges...just a few other options.
Unless you set it up with a small battery pack which are available...but Jim is absolutely correct please keep in mind the detail he mentioned.....
Most of the cheep solar panels do not have a blocking diode so just pick one up at radio shack! With out diode it will charge during day but will discharge at night!

As for some of my substitution....well cotton balls soaked in vasaline for quick fire starting placed tightly into a pill bottle or something small, highly compressed. I also found a few things I felt were crucial to have like a fishing pole pen from Uncrate.com, also I picked up a few small solar panels that are set up on a backpack for easy charging of small electronics....or you can buy it ready made...forget the site but this is what it looks like....
Keep in mind this is supposed to fit in your pocket...
